Make your trip through an idyllic Alentejo scenery, walking along one of Portugal's most beautiful roads, surrounded by typical vegetation. Let yourself be dazzled by the landscape and swing across the plains to discover a region with so much to offer.
The invitation is for a program that starts in Lisbon where you will be staying at the Browns Boutique Hotel in downtown Lisbon to discover this romantic city. On the following day, follow the way to the Alentejo, by the national road 261, staying in the best boutique hotels: Sublime Comporta, Vale do Gaio Hotel, Herdade da Matinha. The program includes car rental, so make the most of the 261 national road linking these three boutique hotels and have a unique journey.
Visit the Rice Museum and get acquainted with a tradition rooted in the Comporta region, and enjoy lunch at one of the best restaurants on the Alentejo coast, which sits on the sand, “Sal”. Savour fresh fish in a climate that surrounds you in tradition and rich culture. Spend the night at Sublime Comporta Country Retreat and have a restful night enriched by Comporta wine and lit by the outdoor fire.
Visit Grândola, a village associated with Portuguese history and to the end of a period of oppression in Portugal. Get to know the essence of this village, from the remains left by the Romans to the monuments that tell the history of the Portuguese people. Have lunch in the restaurant "A Escola" located in Cachopos, Alcácer do Sal, that is a result of a recovery of an old primary school and taste the good food of Alentejo. Head to the Vale do Gaio Hotel where you will spend a night on the dam that surrounds most of the landscape of that place.
The next day, carry on with your trip to the Herdade da Matinha Country House where you will spend your last night, but first make a stop in Santiago do Cacém and enjoy the castle that recalls the history and the Mother Church of Santiago do Cacém and refers to the passage of Santiago through the Alentejo lands. Taste the famous “Bacalhau à Braz” (typical Portuguese cod dish), from the Martins Restaurant and then get ready for a last night in an estate on the southwest Alentejo coast located on the “Rota Vicetina”.
