Explore São Miguel and its hidden treasures while you embark on an adventure through the exuberant nature of this Azorean Island. This is a perfect tour for nature lovers, through various experiences such as walking, canyoning, kayaking and e-biking, while you will discover the fauna and flora that make this place so special.
Apart from nature experiences, you will have the opportunity to get to know the island's culture and gastronomy, with stops in the centre of São Miguel and Furnas, where the famous “Cozido das Furnas”, a local gastronomic dish, is cooked for 5 to 6 hours in the soil heated by the volcano.
This São Miguel Nature Expedition includes a balance of activities for beginners and intermediates, with no previous experience necessary.
Arrival to São Miguel airport and transfer to Senhora da Rosa Tradition & Nature, where you will sleep these first three nights.
On this day, the guide will pick-you after lunch for your first adventure: a Coasteering experience at “Porto da Caloura” – Caloura Harbor to live an unforgettable adventure in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean, with moments of swimming, controlled climbing, jumping, diving and snorkelling. Alternatively, you can opt for a Kayaking activity (5 km) from Port of São Vicente towards “Morro das Capelas” (a small and ancient rocky “monument” shaped like an elephant, attached to the island of São Miguel). Enjoy different perspectives of the coastline, visit some caves and do some snorkelling (activity depending on sea conditions).
Then head to “Sete Cidades” to visit this incredible lagoon, followed by a sunset moment at Mosteiros with dinner. This village is located inside one of the largest caldeiras in the Azores, in a dormant volcano, a unique place full of nature wonders.

This day will be dedicated to “Lagoa do Fogo”, a protected area in São Miguel island due to its unique volcanic landscape, endemic and native forest, with picnic for the experience. Prepare for a hike along a mix of wild trails and rustic farm tracks (13 km) with picnic for the walk. The highlight will be reaching the summit of “Pico da Vela“, with 820 meters height and a unique view of the volcanic “Lagoa do Fogo”.

Another adventure awaits you. Go for a Canyoning tour of medium level, with various moments of rappelling, zip lining, rockslides and jumps. You will probably see the real wild nature of the island and places that are only possible to see whilst canyoning like the beautiful waterfall “Salto do Cabrito”, with picnic.

On this day you will be exploring Furnas, the village and its springs and lagoon. You will also ride through Ribeira Quente on an E-Bike to discover this hidden pearl, a small fishing village (35 km). Stop for lunch in a local place (not included). Experience to taste local cheeses. Drop-off at the Hotel. Sleep at Furnas Octant Hotel.
Another day, another beautiful walk trail. Hike through Trilho Faial da Terra, pass by dazzling natural landscapes and beautiful waterfalls like Salto do Prego and Cascata do Cagarrão, with picnic included. Sleep at Furnas Octant Hotel.
Free day to enjoy Parque Terra Nostra and the Hot Springs. Sleep at Furnas Octant Hotel.
End of the Tour and transfer to the airport for your flight back home.
