Arouca Geopark, a protected heritage of UNESCO, is a natural wonder. Its singular fauna and flora, its valleys and lush green scenario within the Paiva river is among the top nature legacy of the country. Inside the protected park, there is a walking track named Paiva Walkways or “Passadiços do Paiva”, which is an 8,5km linear walking route among wooden stairways and a suspended pedestrian bridge, the longest of Portugal, which combines man-made architecture within the stunning natural landscape.
To enrich your experience, Quintãs Farm Houses with its zoo alike feeling, due to its exotic and farm alike animals, provides the perfect nest after an intensive nature program, perfect for families or groups of friends.
The walk is a linear track of 8,5km through dirt roads and stairs and the full Paiva Walkaway route can be quite demanding. For a lighter version you can opt to start the route in Areinho walking downstream towards Espiunca.
