In the heart of Serra da Malcata and in the beautiful town of Penamacor, you will find the genuine and authentic Moinho do Maneio. The 3 charming rooms in Moinho do Maneio are in three schist houses. The name of the house is inspired by the old watermill on the property, which is about to become active again.
In 2016, the space welcomed the new trend of glamping (lovely camping tourism with luxury and glamour): Maneio’s Glamping Bubble!
Completely isolated and benefiting from a unique location, “almost over the river, almost in the treetops,” Maneio’s Glamping Bubble provides to guests a unique experience of contact with Serra da Malcata’s natural environment. In a spherical tent constantly inflated, visitors will enjoy a unique night view. All the constellations are visible - for those who lie on the double bed - through the transparent walls and ceiling. This does not compromise the privacy. There is no excuse not to try Maneio’s Glamping Bubble, extolling to an overall approach to nature!
A refreshing stream flows by the property, delighting visitors on the hottest days. they can also enjoy a drink or a beautiful sunbathing moment on the deck by the stream. Since seasons are not always hot, Moinho do Maneio have equipped all its cosy, rustic rooms with a fireplace or wood burning stove for the cooler nights.
Moinho do Maneio, besides the invitation to the quiet peace and tranquillity that come from its lush, green surroundings and the loungers and day beds that are provided, also offers a set of activities for the more energetic guests. By appealing to the local traditions and authenticity, Moinho do Maneio offers bread workshops and farming experiences on the estate’s raspberry fields. But that’s not all. Moinho do Maneio horses are always available for a horseback ride in the heart of Serra da Malcata, or wherever the notion takes you.
Outside, the surroundings are an invitation and just 25 kilometres away is the delightful historical village of Idanha-a-Velha, Belmonte, Monsanto. Serra da Estrela is not very far either.
