A true connection with mother nature
One of the first rural projects to receive a Biosphere certification, Chão do Rio is all about sustainability and a simple way of life. Near Seia, a village called Travancinha at Serra da Estrela Natural Park (the largest protected area in Portugal), Chão do Rio has 7 country houses with very traditional architecture and views to Serra da Estrela.
Every day there is bread from the local baker at the door and breakfast is served in a basket. Guests can do their own meals in the houses and use the barbecue and wood oven.
It is perfect for travellers who want to explore Serra da Estrela in every season of the year as well as for a family getaway. The property has a children’s playground, free bicycles, a biological outdoor pool, a small regional souvenir shop, a large stone tank for washing clothes, an outdoor fireplace, a traditional vegetable garden and farm animals.
