The Alentejo has always been one of the regions of Portugal whose gastronomic tradition has always had a strong personality and identity.
In Portalegre, we highlight is the “Solar do Forcado” restaurant, or chef Júlio Vintém’s “Tomba Lobos” restaurant, with genuine signature cuisine.
In Estremoz, our reccomendation is Mercearia do Gadanha, by Chef Michele. A restaurant and grocery store with a fine selection of wines and flavours from Alentejo region, that are cooked in a traditional style, yet with a contemporary twist. And for a really typical experience, try Venda Azul.
In Évora, our favourite ones are Fialho Restaurant and Taberna Típica Quarta-Feira. Both very traditional and show casing the best gastronomy of Alentejo.
In Costa Vicentina, we recommend Lamelas in Porto Covo, Porto das Barcas in Vila Nova de Mil Fontes, and A Barca Tranquitanas in Zambujeira do Mar.
